One of the first institutions His Holiness established when the Tibetan
refugee community settled in India was the Tibetan Childrens Village. More
than 10,00 students now study at the 15 TCV schools throughout India and
3,000 of these live in school run 'homes' or dorms. To help those
who live away from ther families enjoy the Losar festivitiies, TCV sponsors
an annual gift giving ceremony. Contributors (mostly from abroad)
donate cloth, toys, and other gifts) which are wrapped in bags and selected
by children during the ceremony on the first day of Losar. |
